Rainbow Rose

It's begun. Soccer season. Jordyn gets to play this year and I'm ready!

Jordyn plays on a team of all girls called the Rainbow Roses. She's not the fastest player out there but I'm quite certain she's the most enthusiastic...

These were the smallest pair of shorts we could find (funny, huh?) and she didn't like the feel of a tucked in shirt so we went with the tied in the back look. On a hot tip from Suzy I found cleats at Kid to Kid for $7.55. Sweet!

Jorydn played the entire game, running up and down the field. I think it's the most continuous exercise she's ever gotten and she did really well! Bryan, Cara and I had an awesome time watching her have SO much fun and cheering her on from the sidelines.

She got to play all three positions - forward, defender & goalie. When I asked her what the best part of her soccer game was she said, "Running around and getting the ball! Mom, did you know you can't touch the ball with your fingers? If you do Coach Jack said we have to run around the ball 3 times..." I love it.

Pre-K Princess

I tried to get Jordyn into the Core Knowledge Full Day Pre-K program that my district offers before I started working this year. It would be tuition-based, meaning I'd pay for it, but it's just a little more than I was already paying Suzy to watch Jordy.

No dice. She was #20 on the waiting list and good luck, sista.

They called!! She's in!!

Before school

She's already been attending for a week but factor in my copious amounts of free time and you get a post with pictures today...

She's been singing songs, has her own packpack (as she calls it), locker, and nappy mat. In full day Pre-K they are mandated to have a one hour rest time - thank goodness!

Last week they had a unit all about apples. Johnny Appleseed, graphing apples, counting apple seeds, painting apples, apple pie, apple juice, applesauce, etc... Trust me, we heard a lot about apples. So far today she's sung songs about little fishies in a line and the G-R-E-E-N song.

After school

Look how small she looks here... my little girl...

It's good stuff!

An Update

Here's a better photos of my niece, Maya. Look at all that hair!!

Thankfully, she's home from the hospital and doing fabulous!

With big brother, Thomas, right after birth.

Meet Maya

This is my newest niece, Maya Emery Garcia. Don't let those tubes distract you.

She is Jill & Jared's little miracle. They've been married for 10 years now. They had Thomas right away - he just turned 9 - and then no news for years and years after that...
Now they have Maya and I'm SO sad that I live so far away. She was born Friday night in Tooele and as you can see has TONS of dark hair! A few hours after birth the doctors sent her to stay at Primary Children's Medical Center's NICU in Salt Lake because she was having difficulty breathing. She's now being treated for pneumonia and is scheduled to stay for a seven day course of antibiotics.
Everyone I talk to doesn't sound too worried. So I'm going to take a page from that book and just be excited for her arrival and send my prayers and positive thoughts that way!
Love you Jillian!

Child Labor??

Look who Bryan got to mow his lawn last weekend.

She LOVED it.

Look at this hot and sweaty face... She's been begging to cut it again already.
You know he's gonna milk that one next summer, right?

I was going to blog but...

...I had to catch up on all of the posts I've missed these last few weeks.

Seriously. How does anyone who works blog?
P.S. Like the red nails? hee-hee
